Its a Buzz

VIB`s Species: Tetragonula carbonaria

Our VIB`s have arrived on site and with the weather warming up a little their starting to venture out of their box hive.
We are hoping these little beauties will help pollinate our food crops and they might even supply us with a taste of their unique honey.

Where to Go

We had a fun and creative morning in the garden this morning making our directional pole. Steered by Amanda, the pole is now a functional and beautiful part of the garden. Thanks all :)

Plant Up Day

Just over 50 community members came along to be part of the first planting day for The Hive Community Garden. On a glorious sun filled Sunday, community members got down and dirty and together planted a beautiful array of plants. Citrus, salad greens, strawberries, blueberries, tamarillos, capsicums, tomatoes, peas, edible flowers and heaps of herbs to name a few.
Wow...the garden is full of goodness!
Soup was served and garlic bread cooked in our beautiful cob and the sharing of food has begun.
Thankyou to everyone that came along, generously donated plants and took the time to grow community. May the garden grow and grow and grow....................
Thanks everyone :)

First pizza night

The Hive Community Garden had its first pizza night on Friday 30th May. This little event was put on for the garden crew by the garden crew, to celebrate how far we have come and cook on the cob oven for the very first time..........................exciting!!!
Garden members shared a roaring good time, the cob worked a treat and the many pizzas tasted darn fine.
A big shout out to Joe for supplying the delicious pizza dough, bringing some extra lights and steering the making and cooking process. Thankyou Joe..........awesome stuff :)
Many community nights will follow................

Bob and the pea seeds

After many weeks of digging out the garden, pulling up grass and turning the soil, at todays garden gathering, Bob planted out the very first seeds into our feature turtle garden. Dwarf snow peas were planted, which seems like perfect timing as the mornings are starting to feel very crisp and snowy!!
give peas a chance........................... Thanks Bob
