Lilli and Joe`s Garden

Lilli and Joe, participating residents of food Crop Collectors - a community harvest project and their beautiful, productive Woodburn garden.
Today we harvested loads of lemons, juicy tomatoes and some lemon myrtle, which are all free for the taking at the Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre.
Watch out for Lilli on the streets of Woodburn selling their beautiful home-grown organic seedlings.
Thanks Lilli & Joe for cultivating community, by the looks of this truly amazing garden, there will be plenty more produce...............cant wait :)

Free for all

It's Official

Yes, we can celebrate that Richmond Valley Council has approved 'The Hive - A Mid Richmond Community Garden'.  Thank you Clayton for all of your patience and hard-work; now lets get to it on Sunday 16 February 2014, 8am - 11am and start digging in the earth and planting the seeds.  Everyone welcome! Wear some comfy clothes and a hat and bring along whatever you feel might help get us started on our community garden project 'THE HIVE'.  The writer intends making a celebration cake!

Here is a little poem about gardens:

GARDENS

Gardens are more than
hooded flowers, tempting fruits
and living trees.
They are the birds
that sing and fly in them,
the wing-eyed butterflies,
the golden bees.
They include the sky
with sun and moon and stars,
the rain and snow;
they are the earth
with captured light from heaven
where plants and people grow.
A garden is a universe
that whispers soft and vernal,
“As it is above, so it is below.”

Waking, blooming, sleeping,
waking up again,
gardens are eternal:
they teach us all we need to know.
