Wildfoods Workshop

On the superb Saturday morning of the 7th of December, a few crew from The Hive Community Garden with other members of the community, met on the Evans Head foreshore for a foraging workshop presented by Peter Hardwick.
Along the river, on the beach and through the streets we foraged, discovered and munched on edible weeds, bushfoods, seaweeds and edible ornamentals.
An incredibly enjoyable and informative walk with Peter, who has been foraging for wildfoods for over 40 years. Peter`s knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for wildfoods was quite contagious and I`m sure we will spot a few locals in the not to distant future nibbling on some sea rocket on their morning walk.
Thankyou Peter for coming to Evans and talking the walk and walking the talk and sharing this incredibly valuable knowledge.
Fun it was:)

Casino Community Garden Visit

On Saturday 30th November a couple of car loads of The Hive Community Garden crew put on their gumboots, embraced the beautiful rain and headed up to Casino community Garden for their Welcome to Summer event (with not much sun).
Informative talks on 'no dig' gardening, preserving the harvest and solar energy combined with an incredible array of beautiful home-made food PLUS warm pizzas being churned out of the community cob oven, made
for a truly wonderful community gathering.
A huge thank you to Casino Community Garden crew for making us feel very welcome. We all left feeling very warm, happy and inspired.
This little event put on by Casino Community Garden provided a great opportunity to meet our community garden neighbours and we look forward to many more times where we come together to grow food and friends.
Thanks Casino
Clayton.
